The Life of Henry Jones
In the Summer of 2024, our Pennsylvania Abolition Society Intern Becca Zajac went deep into the life of Henry Jones, a man who arrived in Philadelphia in 1838 as a Freedom Seeker and built a succesful catering business.

Jones is the grandfather of Meta Vaux Warwick Fuller, a world renowned sculptor. See her works at the Danforth Art Museum online exhibit.
The success of this family could be said to have been anchored in the spatial stability of the 1838 Black Metropolis.
